Toy Drive at Aaron’s Furniture

By Melissa Cantu Trevino

Aaron’s furniture store of Alice donated toys to the Duval County Child Services Welfare Board on Monday to help bring Christmas joy to children in the community.

“We all have kids and it can be hard on families when they are not together,” said Meagan Reyes, sales manager for Aaron’s. “The customers kept asking where the toys would be going and when we told them it was going to stay local the customers jumped all over it.”

Aaron’s and their customers filled three boxes of toys.

“We wanted to bring these kids have a Christmas away from their parents,” said Cris Torres, member of the Duval County Child Services Welfare Board.

Aaron’s gave customers who donated $50 towards their first months payment, Reyes stated.

“We want the kids not to worry about presents during Christmas,” said Dina Scorpio, Child Protective program director. “We want the kids to know people are thinking about them in their own community.”
