Janet Stansbury
Region 6 Representative
Janet Stansbury is a retired teacher, counselor, school administrator, and director of a non-profit organization. She has been a board member of Harris County Resources for Children and Adults since 1992. Janet also serves on the Texas Council for Child Welfare Boards as Advocacy Committee Chair.
During her tenure, Janet has served as Board President, Vice President, and Treasurer and has witnessed many of the organization’s accomplishments, including:
· Establishment of The Justice of the Peace Truancy Program;
· Construction of the Harris County Youth Services building;
· Transfer of The Guardianship program from social services to Harris
County Resources for Children and Adults;
· Creation of the Senior Justice System Assessment Center;
· Establishment of Harris County protective services as a county program;
· Formation of the Children’s Assessment Center; and
· Creation of Triad Mental Health Services.
As a member of the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards, Janet serves as Advocacy Chair and was named 2020 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.
